Has Illinois forgiven Safe Auto
I came across an article from back in 2006 that I felt deserved resurfacing. The article stated that Michael T. McRaith, Springfield’s Director of Insurance has issued a Cease and Desist Order against the Safe Auto Insurance Company. According to Illinois law, some drivers need to file proof of financial responsibility with the Sec. of state. According to the State, Safe Auto has been improperly informing the Secretary of State of Motor Vehicle on policy cancellations even the the Policyholder is not delinquent. I could imagine the frustration this could cause some Illinois residents. This issue has resulted in license suspensions causing loss of driving privileges to those who don’t deserve it.
Several Sanctions have been filed against Safe Auto requiring them to:
* Immediately cease and desist its improper notification practice;
* File a remediation plan with the Director within 15 days; and
* Within 10 days of approval of the policyholder notice, send a written notification to policyholders who have been affected stating that Safe Auto will pay expenses attributable to the improper filings.

My wife was on her way home from work and was stoped at a stoplight when a car hit her from behind and we have no insurance but witness reports say the other lady is at fault will my truck be fixed by her insurance
i am working on getting insurance now once i get a estimate they will cover it
Yes, you don't have to worry about anything.. but dude, get insurance.. you could get in big trouble one day .. what if you got in an accident that was your fault/your wife's fault and totaled someones car? You'd have to pay out of your pocket or get sued. Insurance may be expensive but its a lot less expensive than paying for tickets, jail time, or a car accident.

Which gov't agency regulates car insurance practices in Illinois?

I was in a car accident last week. My insurance carrier is doing everything that they can to avoid doing there part. I need to enlist the aid of an outside agency in order to get things going. Is there a governing agency that watches over these things?
Contact the Insurance Commissioner in your state. They are in charge of insurance company's doing business in your state. There office is in your state capitol ..............UJN

A friend recently called and told me that her daughter was pulled over for speeding and because she did not have proof of car insurance in the car with her that the police officer handcuffed her, impounded her car, took her to jail, fingerprinted her, took her mugshot, and had her post a $250 fine. I do not, personally, believe this story and wondered if anyone new of any changes to the mandatory insurance laws for the state of Illinois.

The number of Americans collecting unemployment benefits has reached a 26-year high, the U.S. Department of Labor announced Thursday.
That came as no surprise to Dennis Smith, executive director of the Northern Illinois Food Bank.
His nonprofit organization distributes food through 520 food assistance sites throughout 13 northern Illinois counties.
“The unemployment that is occurring in the counties is causing more and more new faces to show up,” Smith said. “It really started with higher fuel prices. To get to work, they had to put fuel in the car, and a lot of people could not afford it, so they charged it. When fuel prices went down, the credit-card bills didn’t go away.
“And, at about the same time in September, the unemployment started spiking.
“The only place they could turn to, to get some assistance in an immediate fashion, is the neighborhood food pantry,” Smith said.
