I will be meeting with some life insurance brokers here in Connecticut, what would be good questions to ask a life insurance broker regarding buying life insurance coverage?

• Ask about discounts, if you have club memberships, professional memberships, military discounts etc., Don’t underestimate the potential of discounts to help you get lower your rates.
• For Cash-value or permanent/ whole life insurance policies, ask if there are any cash-value target goals that your policy has to maintain or how fast the cash-value accumulates under your insurance policy.
• If you are provided an growth index for the amount of interest your policy will incur annually, ask if these are guaranteed or if you can expect them to change in the future.

I stole a candy bar when i was 19 years old, I am now 31 and have a property causualty Life and health License in Connecticut. My problem is that all diret carriers are very strict and want me to get series 6 and 63, however the SCC will not allow me to get a 6 or 63 due to the petty theft on my record, so companies find this out and wont hire me....The issue i have is that i am a great salesmen and would excel in commercial lines and never get the chance,,,,Anyone know of any independent agencies that are willing to give a guy a chance and take a risk that i can gaurantee will pay off.
What about sponsership for the nasd?

well, you'll have to move away from the whole life end of it, and focus on the p/c side only - and find carriers that are more p/c oriented. EVERYONE is going to want you to be licensed for the annuities thing on the life end.
OTOH, if you just start sending out resumes to agencies. . just about all of 'em will take on a commercial lines sales guy for straight commissions, which sounds like it would do the trick. YOU could screen out the ones you want to work for, and go to them - that way, they've got NOTHING to lose by bringing you on board.

This new presidential administration promises to at least make another concerted attack on the U.S. health-care system, and Congress will surely play its role. And -- just as in the financial and foreclosure crises -- it looks as if Sen. Chris Dodd may have found himself at the head table of another key issue. Sen. Edward Kennedy, chairman of the committee that oversees health issues, is himself just returning from a life-threatening bout of cancer. It's unclear whether the "lion of the Senate" has the full reserve of energy it'll take to get some serious traction on health-care, but he's designated a team of fellow senators to help. Of that team, he made his old friend Dodd "chief deputy" last month. Now, before this month is out, Dodd will be touring Connecticut to listen to people's opinions on the subject, according to an announcement today. A series of town-hall meetings will start on Jan. 23 at Goodwin College in East Hartford. For details on the rest of the meetings, his office is inviting people to call at 202-224-2823 or e-mail ctrx4change@dodd.senate.gov . His Senate Web site will also post updated details.
